As another reviewer observed, the songs (on all volumes) are not in chronological order. It is obvious that the record company wanted to split up the hits in order for more equal sales on all volumes....this is a cheap trick that does more harm than good. Like the Beach Boys 'Good Vibrations' Boxed set, this set should have been in chronological order to truly show the evolution of the band - granted, they weren't together long enough to 'evolve' but it still would have been nice to have some order (besides alphabetical) in this collection....this set shows how these companies are out to make money with no thought whatsoever towards the consumer.
Capitalistic enterprises aside, the recordings are in excellent quality. The music itself is truly fantastic. It is a good collection of songs. (A Rose For Emily Alternate Mix is FANTASTIC).
As the music world seems to be disintegrating into a pit of over-produced pop hits (I Kissed A Girl, Party In The USA, Etc...) I believe more people will turn their attention back to the bands that actually had talent. This set, no matter how poorly thought out it is, is a great add to any music-lovers collection.
5/5

I agree with the other reviewers that these seem to be the original studio recordings as advertised. If you like the Zombies, don't be afraid of this bargain priced collection. I downloaded it at five bucks, but I noticed volumes two and three are also only 6.99 each, so you could have about as much Zombies as you'd ever need for under twenty dollars. Considering how difficult it is to get decent collections from some other bands of this era, these are a real deal.

I'm not old enough to have the originals on vinyl for comparison, but these sound like the original recordings and not re-creations.
However, note that the three volumes in this series seem to follow alphabetical groupings rather than a chronological ordering. For instance, Time of the Season is from 1968 rather than 1965. Other songs on Volume 1 seem to come from that section of the alphabet, and a similar pattern exists on volumes 2 and 3. If you download all three volumes and want to put them in chronological order you're going to need a little time.

I, like some of you, have been burned by non-original recordings masquerading as originals. There were even some Zombie 'classics' that turned out to be modern re-recordings (which I noticed only after I'd downloaded them of course). After learning to listen before I buy, this album does sound like the original recordings, which of course are rock classics that need no further comment from me. Enjoy!
